huge amount of branching. These fish are hard to breed on as the excessive mutations that cause the branching can lead to other mutations such as poor scales and short ventral fins. Feathertail bettas should never be bred due to these mutations, which, in addition to the bad scaling and finnage, leads to overall weak fish. Due to the weight of the tail, feathertails are prone to tail biting and are often less active then other types.
